Divorce is an emotional time for the splitting spouses and their families. There are finances, property and other assets to divide, and there are many complicating factors that can arise during proceedings. That is why it is crucial to secure an experienced divorce lawyer to aid your divorce case. A determined legal representative will support your side of the story and make the proceedings run as smoothly as possible.

With that in mind, there is an unusual story unfolding here in New York. A man who married his Latvian wife in 2003 is suing a photography studio for a poorly done job at his wedding. While wedding photography lawsuits do happen, this suit is grabbing headlines because the man is demanding that the studio pay to recreate his wedding in order to get the wedding photos he wants.

There is a catch though - the couple filed for divorce in 2008 and their union has been dissolved since 2010.

In addition, the man does not know if his ex-wife even lives in the U.S. anymore. He believes that she returned to her native country of Latvia after the divorce, but does not for sure.

The lawsuit seems over the top, and a Manhattan state Supreme Court justice furthered that notion by quoting the Barbara Streisand song "The Way We Were" when she criticized the man's intentions during a ruling last year. The judge tossed out a few claims, but allowed others to proceed.

"This is a case in which it appears that the 'misty watercolor memories' and the 'scattered pictures of the smiles ... left behind' at the wedding were more important than the real thing," she said.

The moral here is that after a divorce, former spouses can sometimes exhibit extreme behavior. Outlandish acts, like the one in this story, can prompt legal action, so discuss the situation with an attorney.
